Down this atmospheric alley opposite St Bartholomew church, Cloth is taking over a double fronted corner site that’s beneath the former home of poet John Betjeman and next door to the two oldest residential buildings in London. Food overall was good. The Welsh rarebit for starters was good as was the roast for mains, although it could have more gravy, which wasn’t a problem when we asked for more. Service and attention to detail could be better. They forgot two of our starters which they apologised and deducted our starters from the bill. Water carafe and wine was neglected, which should be automatically topped up. Plus I asked for the heating to be turned on otherwise we would’ve kept our coats on. If they can refine those small details, then it would deserve 5 stars.

Consistently great food and service complemented by a great atmosphere and grand choice of wine. Menu was again refreshingly much changed since we were here a few weeks back and it was fun once again to escape through the back of the wardrobe for a couple of happy hours.

The venue and restaurant are very nice, the bar has a good vibe, it's maybe a bit too loud depending what you like. The restaurant is on the top floor and the ambiance is calmer with less noise making it ideal for conversation. The food is great but choices fairly limited with only 4 starters and similar number of mains on offer. Everything we had was tasty and will presented.
