It’s a bit of a time warp…the menu is traditional but the food is always excellent. It’s the service that sets IG apart- it’s impeccable, friendly, entertaining, and what you wish other restaurants offered! We celebrated a birthday and they nailed it! Joe (waiter) was fantastic! As were Tanner and the entire team!More infoIron GatePrice: Very Expensive• French• Belmont•4.9

We wanted a good beef dinner for Christmas Day and Porterhouse did not disappoint. Greeted warmly by the hostess. Ambiance was nice and cozy in the little alcove. Bruno came by to say “hello” to our birthday girl. Her family are frequent diners of Porterhouse. Food, wine and beer selections were great. Service by Kayla during our dinner was superb. We very much enjoyed our filet mignon, porterhouse and prime rib! Will be back when we want an excellent quality beef dinner.More infoPorterhousePrice: Expensive• Steakhouse• San Mateo•4.7
- LLisaVIPSan Francisco Bay Area •60 reviews5.0Dined 7 days agoLunch after a matinee is one of our Holiday traditions- this year it was just perfect. The restaurant was packed with diners waiting for tables lined up at the bar, so thank goodness we had a reservation (on a Monday at 3:00PM- who knew?). Once past that minor inconvenience, everything was absolutely wonderful. We shared the Tortelloni appetizer and even though I am an accomplished Italian home cook, it was the best we have ever had. Then we shared the Jack LaLane salad - partly because we grew up with him on TV and the nostalgia was undeniable- and it was perfect. It had a respectable amount of seafood and avocado and was very large. My husband said his Manhatten was excellent. We left vowing to come back soon and often.More infoHistoric John's GrillPrice: Expensive• American• Downtown / Union Square•4.7

The staff is fantastic- all are friendly and knowledgeable. We only have have small plates and everything we’ve eaten has been great. We can’t recommend Velvet 48 enough!More infoVelvet 48 Wine BarPrice: Expensive• Wine Bar• Burlingame•5
