Recommended in the MICHELIN Guide for California 2021-2023. Located in Oakland’s historic Grand Lake District, Bardo is a neighborhood lounge and restaurant inspired by the comfort and camaraderie of a mid-century dinner party. Drawing on the celebration and elegance of old school entertaining, we envisioned a space for friends and neighbors to enjoy amazing food, cocktails, conversation and great music. Our lounge is a swank living room, furnished with hand-picked finds from antique and vintage markets from Palm Springs to Portland. Our mezzanine dining room features a rotating menu of fresh, seasonal supper-fare with local and sustainably sourced meats, fish and produce. While we think the food, drinks and atmosphere are all great reasons to visit us, it’s the relationships with our friends, neighbors and guests that is the driving force behind Bardo.

Julia’s is a hidden gem. The building is beautiful and the restaurant is spacious and relatively quiet. You can hear the people at your table speak and this is a major plus, given most restaurants are loud and noisy. The waitress was excellent and the man who helped us pick the wine to go with our meal was above and beyond helpful. We will be back!! I highly recommend having a meal here

Christmas prix fixe menu was just delicious and a good value. Service was efficient and attentive for a bustling night. The only downside- cold in the restaurant. Had to keep my coat on, many diners as well. Lobster Bisque is delicious, the Crab and Artichoke dip very tasty. Entrees were great- PrimeRib, Surf and Turf, tender and well seasoned Swordfish. We would go again and probably will next year.

Excellent Food / service & ambience superb If u want a memorable evening with good food this is it. We were a party of 3 came for a early dinner at 5pm . It was fairly busy for Christmas Day dinner. Filled up more in the evening. We started our dinner with Prosecco wine followed with the salad & tomato soup Main orders we ordered 2 risotto very delicious, highly recommend it if you are or even not a vegetarian . And we had the Chicken, very delicious, sauce was great. Zino restaurant is in the 1910 hotel Shattuck it beckons charm & simple lines of beauty of past era but very modern variation. We had a great corner window seat & could admire the whole dinning room & view outside . I would come back to Zino. Whether it is for special occasions like Christmas dinner or even just regular dining . I would highly recommend it. Price was reasonable for the quality of food , the ambience was lovely & service very attentive. Thank you Zino Chef , kitchen crew& service staff for a excellent memorable Christmas dinner . Worth the price. Merry Christmas 2024 & A Happy Prosperous New year 2025 . Best wishes M

I lived in Italy for a year and three.one four’s pizza is the best I’ve ever had. The salad was amazing as well. Full bar/craft cocktails, great wine selection, and an incredible dessert menu. We’re already looking forward to returning to try some of their pastas and salads. We forgot that we were there during happy hour and were surprised at how reasonable our check was for such a memorable dining experience.

Lunch after a matinee is one of our Holiday traditions- this year it was just perfect. The restaurant was packed with diners waiting for tables lined up at the bar, so thank goodness we had a reservation (on a Monday at 3:00PM- who knew?). Once past that minor inconvenience, everything was absolutely wonderful. We shared the Tortelloni appetizer and even though I am an accomplished Italian home cook, it was the best we have ever had. Then we shared the Jack LaLane salad - partly because we grew up with him on TV and the nostalgia was undeniable- and it was perfect. It had a respectable amount of seafood and avocado and was very large. My husband said his Manhatten was excellent. We left vowing to come back soon and often.
