At the Island Way Grill, we're all about fresh fish. Our own boats make daily trips to the middle grounds to bring back fresh tuna, mahi, snapper and other local varieties. No long-line fish here-just hook, rod, and reel. If it's any fresher, it is still in the gulf. Most of our cooking revolves around our oak and citrus fired open pit, which sears at an extremely high temperature and adds a delicious smokiness to everything grilled. I’ve been eating at Mystic Fish for years. Normally it’s very consistent and the food is very good. Last night I ordered the NY strip steak for $40 which was on the specials menu. I ordered medium rare— it was medium and too well cooked for my taste. Plus from the first bite I had to spit out gristle. A friend at our table ordered the same thing and it was not cooked as ordered and also tough. I told the waiter but he did nothing. Very disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber. I’m sorry I tipped the waiter 20% and if and when I return I will definitely be more vocal when I’m served an inedible piece of meat. Shame on you, Mystic Fish. I don’t get out often due to mobility issues so it was a very unhappy evening as far as the food I got. I did enjoy the lobster bisque but that didn’t make up for my entree. Janet S
