- AAnthonyYorkshire •1 review5.0Dined on Jan 15, 2025The afternoon tea was excellent, you can understand why it has been rated so highly. The waiting staff are fantastic and we were looked after from the moment we stepped in the building. Extremely enjoyable both my wife and myself would recommend eating at the grand.More infoThe Rise RestaurantPrice: Expensive• British• York•4.6
- MMikeNewcastle and Northumberland •10 reviews5.0Dined on Jan 14, 2025Read good things about this restaurant so decided to travel down to York for lunch for my wife's birthday - and we were not disappointed. Lovely setting by the river. Very friendly staff on arrival and during service. The food was great - we both loved the scallops with squid ink risotto, and the pheasant (me) and chicken (my wife) were both delicious. And my wife was given a little birthday treat to finish off the meal. Would also recommend the Balfour Nanette rose wine from Kent - apparently not so popular with diners, but it should be! All in all, a memorable meal. It's not easy to find places which offer their a la carte menu at lunchtimes, so well done to The Star Inn The City.More infoThe Star Inn The CityPrice: Expensive• Contemporary British• York•4.5
- JJadeBrighton •9 reviews5.0Dined on Jan 13, 2025Our second time visiting and the service by Andrea was exceptional. We were made to feel valued and our requests were no bother at all. Other establishments could learn a thing or too by visiting here. Our food was delicious especially the cakes and we were very full! A must do experience when visiting York and for special occasions. We hope to visit again very soon!More infoBettys Café Tea Rooms - YorkPrice: Very Expensive• Afternoon Tea• York•4.7
