At Rosie Cannonball, we’re serving European comfort food in a lively atmosphere. The restaurant celebrates the origins of cooking through open, live fire and is centered around a wood-burning oven and grill. The menu draws inspiration from individual ingredients: local vegetables, pastas and pizzas, simple seafood and locally-sourced meat cooked over live fire. Master Sommelier June Rodil curated an expansive list of delicious wines with a strong Italian, Spanish and French focus from their favorite producers new and old, along with options from progressive New World producers. The cocktail menu has strong Italian influences, mirroring the focus of the food. Brunch on Saturday and Sunday is primarily first come, first served. If you do not see the time you want available online, please call us directly. When owner Johnny Carrabba set out on his next restaurant venture, he knew his vision would include the fond memories he had of his dear grandmother Grace Mandola. Grace, also known to the family as Mama, was a Sicilian woman born to immigrant parents in Louisiana. She had a flair for cooking, hospitality, and deep faith. She was known to make bread from scratch every Saturday for her legendary three-hour Sicilian Sunday lunches; and, her newly established family roots in Louisiana added interesting flavors to her home cooked meals. The entire Mandola family, including her five children and fourteen grandchildren, was regularly greeted in her home with smells of warm bread, well brewed sauces and homemade soups. It was around her table that her family learned the true meaning and value of relationships, friendships and good food.

The wait was a tad long even with a reservation (but they can’t really be blamed that Valentine’s Day happened to fall on a Friday anyhow) Once we were seated we had waters brought out and our very friendly server took incredible care of my partner and I. The food was delicious and everything I hoped it would be, there were two live music groups walking around and playing great music as well which added great atmosphere. Overall I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone, I’m sure you’ll be seated much faster on a better night as well so I wouldn’t bet on knocking this place because of it.

It was an excellent experience on our first time here. My girlfriends and I meet weekly at different restaurants throughout Houston and we decided to give The Rustic a try. The host, James, that greeted us as we each arrived was very friendly and welcoming; telling us a bit about the restaurant and the live performances on weekends. The food was exceptional and well priced. The noise level was very good despite the size of the dining room. Parking was what we expect at the Uptown Park location but none of us had any issues as we all arrived at different times. Overall a great experience. We plan to return and bring our guys next time
