Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Wonderful location to dine at. Overlooking the waters out at Bondi. Got to see a glimpse of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race in the distance. We were initially seated at a table of two which faced each other near the pathway but were then moved to a comfortable position which looked straight out into the water. The interior was cool in comparison to the hot outdoors and windows were left open where a gentle sea breeze that drafted through felt refreshing. Amongst the dishes, the octopus salad was certainly the most intriguing and had a delectable taste. No element of the dish overpowered the other and tastes all melted together with an octopus that was cooked extremely well so was not rubbery like overcooked molluscs. A little steep in terms of costs but a great dining location and was a lovely location for a date.
