Callie represents Chef Travis Swikard's debut solo project after spending a decade working alongside the esteemed Chef Daniel Boulud in New York City. The restaurant’s name, "Callie," comes from the Greek word "kallos," meaning "the most beautiful," and embodies its blend of Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients and terroir, from sea to land from San Diego, Swikard's hometown.     We opted for the Kaiseki experience, which consisted of five courses with smaller but filling portions, starting with a sake pairing. The first course, spicy tuna crispy rice, was a highlight—perfectly crunchy, slightly spicy, and packed with flavor. For the second course, I had the New York strip and shrimp yakitori skewers. The New York strip was tender and delicious, but the shrimp skewers fell short, lacking flavor and coming across as underwhelming. The third course, wild mushroom polenta with truffle oil, was quite tasty. The drizzle of honey added a pleasant sweetness to balance the savory flavors. The fourth course featured two sushi rolls—the Kraken roll and Japanese flying saucer. Unfortunately, both rolls were overly heavy on rice with minimal filling, resulting in a lackluster bite that felt more like eating seasoned rice than sushi. The final course, “Some More” churros, were slightly dry but still enjoyable thanks to the chocolate and marshmallow sauce—hard to go wrong with churros. Cocktails were visually appealing and well-crafted, adding to the overall experience. I overall do recommend booking the Kaiseki experience as it was fun, creative, and tasty, but I would likely not repeat after experiencing.

    First time dining here, I celebrated my 30th birthday. I received a sweet birthday postcard and had an AMAZING waitress named Sky. She was very kind, informative and just sooo sweet!! All of the food was beyond delicious. I have never been to a restaurant where I can say the food, service and atmosphere was all a 10/10. When I say everything was a 100/10, I am not being dramatic. We ordered about 7 or 8 dishes for the table and shared (between 4 people). Each bite was savory and melt in your mouth delicious. The drinks were yummy as well. I wholeheartedly recommend, I can’t wait to go back!!

    This was our first time dining here and it won’t be our last! The food was absolutely delicious and so fresh. Perhaps the best pasta I’ve ever had. The appetizers and salad we had were amazing. And the dessert! The lemon dessert is my new favorite. Exceptional service as well.

    Attended the 5-course Christmas Eve dinner. It was worth every penny- from start to finish it was coursed beautifully, ingredients were fresh and cooked perfectly to temp, plating was festive and colourful; and all this with just the right timed check-ins from my bartender/server James. The couple next to me did the wine pairing and everything was explained nicely and paired well... along with some fun history & stories- I opted for the cocktails which were creative and utilized some lovely ingredients as well as being well balanced.
