Our magical conservatory restaurant is set amid Updown’s rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines surrounded by beautiful 17th century brick and watch the chefs in the open kitchen tending to the wood fired grill and original farm house bread oven. The restaurant has been completely transformed by owners Ruth and Oli to be heated and fully enclosed and is open year round.Menus will be small, hyper seasonal and use the best of local and European produce and change on regular basis to reflect what’s best. Everything is cooked over wood in the open kitchen. There is a short list of exciting wines of limited availability, local beers and seasonal cocktails.On Wednesday nights in place of our à la carte we cook a Steak Night menu , priced at £30 per person for 3 courses. On Sunday nights the restaurant is closed but we serve a light supper for hotel guests in the Farmhouse.

The Captain Digby, a family friendly restaurant and bar which caters for all ages & occasions, with sea views overlooking Kingsgate Bay. Food is served from 12 noon each day, all day until late check our operating hours before arrival.Choose from our family dining area, close to our indoor play area or our cliff top restaurant with sea views. Alfresco dining is available with 40 benches overlooking the bay but these are non-reservable and work on a first come first served basis. Please note we can not guarantee window tables. We do not allow dogs inside our venue but they are welcome in our outside dining areas. Being so close to the shoreline we tend to have issues regarding internet connections and advise all customers also bring cash as an alternative payment.

A wonderful dining experience, the setting is absolutely gorgeous, the staff very attentive and the steak and fish of the day (stone fish) were cooked perfectly with lots of flavours. I also think it offers real value for money. We’d love to visit again.

This was my second visit this month and both occasions were a delicious experience as always! From the moment you walk in until you leave the service is so attentive! Friendly and professional. Such an excellent team. Westgate is so lucky to have such a special place and long may it continue!

From booking to the end of our visit, everything went very well. On arrival, we were shown to our table, which was by the window. We had a lovely view across the bay. Our waitress took our order for drinks and food fairly promptly as there weren’t many diners in the restaurant at the time. The restaurant gradually filled up and we were pleased we had arrived early We chose the roast beef and all the trimmings and when it arrived there was plenty of food and it was well cooked. We enjoyed our meal and our visit very much
