Best Restaurants for Foodies in Suffern

We had a wonderful birthday dinner last night at Sola Osteria. The chef and staff made us feel so welcome and comfortable . We ordered the cauliflower, tagliatelle, squid ink pasta and braised short ribs. Everything was absolutely delicious. Pasta portions are on the smaller side, but executed perfectly. Would highly recommend for a date night or dinner with friends.

The food was fabulous. Our server was excellent and truly made delicious recommendations. Where the mood went south was that shortly after we paid the bill and lingered in conversation enjoying the last bit of the evening with friends who we hadn’t seen in months, the hostess came to us and said she wanted to let us know she will need the table in 10 minutes. It was late Sunday night, obviously no other seatings/reservations coming, 4 other empty tables available to seat guests. No one was waiting anywhere to be seated. I completely understand that had it been earlier as the place was packed, but the night was winding down and all the tables seated were most certainly the last of the evening reservations including us. The shift in the enjoyment and mood of the evening was palpable. Not cool.

Getting a NYC authentic, creative delicious gourmet tasting menu in my hometown of park ridge, nj, was the greatest gift this town could give. Easy, friendly, cozy setting - then the six course tasting menu sent me over the edge & to the moon. Transformative evening. Tastebud explosion with accomplished owners & chef. Maybe the most innovative thing to happen to Park Ridge ever!!

Food was excellent as usual and BYOB allows for a special bottle of wine without a sizeable restaurant markup. The service is the best I’ve experienced, including any Michelin star restaurant. My wife’s steak was slightly undercooked and it was the waiter who noticed it when checking on how we liked our food. A waiter proactively catching a less than perfect dish (very rare at this restaurant) is commendable. Will continue to come back when we are able to get reservations. Simply the best in the area.

Third time diners. From the moment you are welcomed into this establishment by the friendly hosts, until you leave totally full-you will be treated to a wonderful experience. Wait staff are friendly and attentive, menu selections entice your palate. Gluten free options are pointed out by your server-fresh made gf pasta, gf bread for the table, and dessert items. Marcello,one of the owners visits tables adding to the upbeat vibe. You will not be disappointed, so bring your bottle of wine and enjoy!
