The hotel is well known for the friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere of its bar, restaurant and conservatory. The use of bright cheerful colours in the bar, coupled with beautiful chintz curtains, comfortable sofas and armchairs has helped to create a warm refreshing feeling of spring and with two beautiful fireplaces and a magnificent Victorian style bar, the bar is an area where you can just sit and relax. The restaurant, which is also adjacent to the bar, has achieved a reputation for providing some of the best food in the area in glorious surroundings. All tastes are catered for, thanks to a wide range of imaginative dishes that feature on its menu. One section of the restaurant can be closed off for special events such as weddings, anniversary celebrations, birthdays, private dinner parties, business luncheons etc.

Quite simply, this is one of the best restaurants in the world. The food is incredible. Every course was absolutely delicious, the ambience of the dining room is unfussy and welcoming. The staff are all friendly and efficient. And Brett Graham, the chef, takes his time to come to every table, explaining the dishes and chatting to his customers all through the night. Incredible. Up there with Core and The Fat Duck as my favourite restaurants in London, and one of the best dining experiences of my life. Stunning. I’m already planning a return.

Lovely setting, beautiful savouries and scones. For the price there were far too many sweet treats- these were lovely but became simply inedible due to the sheer size and amount. The amount of pistachio crème on the mince pie was somewhat sickly and I think substance over style would be more appreciated. Our waiters were lovely though, and nothing was too much. Also- it would be nice to have proper boxes to take sweet treats home in as again, it was simply impossible to eat that much sugar in one sitting.

Wonderful food in a lovely atmosphere. We had the seven course tasting menu and it was a great experience - beautifully presented with unusual flavour combinations that really worked! I would have given 5 stars for the service too, were it not for the fact we had to wait WAY too long for our coffee. It turned out that our (two) coffees were delayed by a large cocktail order from the private dining room. I guess they could do with another member of staff or simply train one of the waiters to make coffee.

I ate in the conservatory section of the restaurant and the whole area was delightfully decorated with a lovely view over the gardens. The waiting staff were very attentive and pleasant, service was prompt and efficient and the food was lovely. A very pleasant dining experience.
