- SSharynLondon •1 review5.0Dined 4 days agoWe visited Fork for the first time and arrived by train from Brighton. We walked up Station Road as far as the High Street before realising that we had missed it. In darkness of the winter evening, it was difficult to discern the small sign on the front. Thankfully, we were not able to find anything else that may be improved upon at Fork. The staff were warm and welcoming and despite our early arrival (we had given ourselves plenty of time to find the place), they were able to accommodate us. The decor is Scandi style with smooth pale wood panelling and white globe wall lights. The menu is small and the food is prepared from fresh local ingredients. We were offered mushroom vol au vent amuse bouches while we perused the menu. They were light and delicious and whet our appetites for what was to follow. We had two courses each and the food was delicious. The poached pear with whipped goats cheese and a rainbow of beetroot salad was a delight for the eyes and taste buds. The cauliflower and stilton soup was rich and very warming. Perfect for a wintry evening. The grey mullet was cooked to perfection and the samphire, crispy kale and mussel broth delicious! We were both delighted with our food and the wine choice was a pleasant surprise too. We had the German Pinot Noir from Villa Wolf. I will definitely be making a return visit to Fork as soon as my social calendar allows.More infoFork LewesPrice: Very Expensive• British• Lewes•4.6
- KKARLKent •3 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoBook and order with confidence, the food is much better than expected for a pub/restaurant. Delicious. I had a snack of squid rings with a bang bang dip, then a braised pig's cheek starter Mains were venison and lamb shoulder tart, with a side of green veg, and a chocolate terrine to finish, all superbly cooked and served. I sat in the bar area as it was empty and quiet when I arrived, and also the log fire appealed as it was a cold day. The room is a little draughty (doors opening, and single glazed windows), and I was not warm enough so I moved tables and sat pretty much in the fireplace. Lovely. The only down side is that being a pub, dogs are allowed in the bar area. If I went back (and I will if I'm in that area again) I would not sit in the bar area, I would opt for a NO DOGS area, as my chocolate terrine experience was spoiled by the smell of wet dog.More infoThe Cat InnPrice: Moderate• Contemporary British• East Grinstead•4.9
- AAndrewKent •1 review5.0Dined 5 days agoWelcoming and effective staff. Food choices were excellent. We had the seafood curry and a lamb curry. I would have liked more roasted potato but that was a minor issue. The house Bordeaux was well priced and delicious. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for a couple or foursome. Possibly not a group booking for us due to the price. We will be returningMore infoEssence at the Pantiles by Atul KochharPrice: Expensive• Indian• Tunbridge Wells•4.5
