Zilla Sake, Portland’s pioneering sake bar, opened its doors in 2007 and swiftly became a cornerstone of the city’s vibrant sake culture. As Portland’s sake scene flourished, Zilla remained at the forefront, offering a meticulously curated selection of both popular and exclusive sake varieties, hand-picked by the owner. The summer of 2008 marked a pivotal moment with the introduction of Zilla’s sushi bar by head chef Kate Koo, transforming the venue into a high-end sushi destination steeped in tradition. By 2016, Kate Koo took full ownership of Zilla Sake, where she continues to artfully blend innovation with time-honored practices, creating a dining experience that honors the past while embracing the future.

Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous fried chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

We haven’t been for awhile and Lechon was and is still one of the best restaurants and experiences. Food and drinks were amazing and service was 1000 percent worth going out and reminds you that old school good service while eating out still exists.

Everything was delicious and well paired, for example the gravy really enhanced the fried chicken rather than overpowering it or making it soggy. Mac and cheese was just the right richness and texture. Cocktail was very tasty. Presentation of everything was thoughtful. Generous portions. I was super impressed with the quality, especially for a casual come-as-you-are restaurant. Would definitely come back if we lived in Portland!

I cannot even put into words what a wonderful experience it was dining at Morchella. My partner & I came to celebrate our anniversary with the 7 course chefs tasting menu. From tip to tail, the experience was curated with intention, care, and passion. The ambiance is mellow, beautiful & intimate. The service was incredible with very knowledgeable servers & chef Cam going the extra mile to tell us the history of the foraged spices used in our drinks & food. If you are looking for an affordable fresh fine dining experience in the Portland area, Morchella is the place to go.
