The Grain House Restaurant is located on the picturesque 10-acre estate of the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Grain House structure was originally built as a barn in the 1760’s and was used to store grain for American Revolutionary soldiers. The barn was later moved to its current location and opened as a restaurant in the 1930’s. Today, the Grain House is a renowned restaurant in North/Central New Jersey, with a comfortable, casual ambiance. The restaurant serves innovative, traditional and contemporary interpretations of American cuisine with some added international accents, prepared under the direction of Executive Chef John Benjamin. Delicious homemade desserts complete the menus, which are revised several times a year. Outdoor patio dining and fireside dining are available in season.The restaurant offers lunch and dinner daily, as well as a special breakfast/lunch a la carte menu offered on Saturdays from 11 am to 4pm. My wife and I met for Sunday lunch with two close friends on a very cold January afternoon. The dining room was very cozy. We were seated near a blazing wood fireplace which kept us nice and cozy on this bitter winter day. The menu was very inviting. I ordered salmon burger with avocado and a side salad. My wife ordered a harvest salad with grilled salmon and roasted walnuts. Our friends ordered avocado toast with salmon. All the dishes were nicely presented and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. The only negative was that the noise level was quite high and made conversation a little challenging at times. All in all, a very enjoyable experience and one we look forward to repeating in the future

This is a well run establishment. Service top-notch and the food outstanding. The shrimp kabobs were tasty and not overcooked. The bread freshly made. The meal started with complementary lentil soup. We had a truly enjoyed our meal.

I had always heard about this place but finally decided to give it a try. The food was amazing. Didn’t expect to find good Greek/Mediterranean food but this place is a jewel hidden in a suburban town in New Jersey. The service is quick and the staff friendly. The price is moderate, maybe a touch expensive given that it is a restaurant in a suburban town. Highly recommend it.
