Best Restaurants with a Happy Hour in San Marcos

The entire experience was wonderful. We went to dine for my wife's birthday. We arrived early and asked if we could be seated. The hostess accommodated and we were sat near the kitchen. Which my son enjoyed, because he could see the "magic". The cocktails were delicious. Appetizer of Roasted Oysters and Bone Marrow was fantastic. The breadcrumbs on the oysters was fun. I ordered the Shrimp Linguine, my son ordered the Rigatoni, my wife ordered the Halibut. All were delicious and perfectly cooked. Even the breadcrumbs added to each dish. Which was interesting, since they were on the Appetizer. Okay. No big deal. For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate, (it wasn't a cake. More like a pie?) It was tasty, my wife and son said. But, far too sweet for me. There was salt added to the top of the chocolate, which was okay, but made it bitter. The restaurant even provided a small ice cream with a birthday candle. That was sweet and awesome. The only thing was, there were the breadcrumbs again. The same ones from the appetizer and the entrees. Once was cute and tasty. Twice was interesting. A third time was a little overkill and made it fall flat. All in all, the evening was great. My wife was so happy. We all were. Thank you.

Great place - easy parking, courteous staff, great service from Shiloh, and tasty food

This is our favorite place for a great seafood meal. We took a friend for his birthday. I always get the Alaskan halibut….. my husband always enjoys a skewer of divine seafood. Our friend enjoyed the Ono. The hot out of the oven sourdough rolls are delicious. Ambiance is old but hey the food is why we go!

Only 5 of 6 of us ended up making it, & had Gracie as our waitress who was excellent. The Restsurant (indoors) was not very busy (it was a Tuesday evening) …. Yet the lights were dimmed twice & we’re not sure why. Once I can understand but the 2nd time we really felt possibly we were being told it was time to go (it was only getting on 7pm) Other than that, the ambience was great~ temperature great. Food great, Altho it was mentioned a couple of times that it does seem more expensive than places we also go to in Carlsbad. 1/2 this group is from Carlsbad and 1/2 Lake San Marcos. Most had desserts too for the first time ever & raved about them. All had wine. Kudos for Gracie putting up with us!

Great neighborhood restaurant, amazing Food, drinks top notch and our server was awesome!! Will go back!!
