Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boom­box, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry.     It was a pre fixe meal as it was Christmas Eve but I think that worked to our advantage. The Mezze was outstanding. I highly recommend sharing dishes. All of them were very good.

    Dinner was so delicious! Service was great—really appreciate them making Christmas Eve so special! Very family friendly. We ordered an appetizer and then had one dish of the chicken Alfredo. It was literally the best I’ve ever had. It fed two adults and two children. The kids loved it and cleared their plates. Then we had the Italian cheesecake and hot fudge brownie. Both were great, definitely recommend the brownie.

    We always have the best time when we dine here. Perfect service, enthusiastic and friendly staff across the board!) great ambience, noise level is not bothersome given the ceiling height (but playlist is weird. doesn’t match the vibe, space, or food) food is delicious. Wicked Bloody Mary, perfect martini.

    I don’t recall his name but our server was outstanding! Pleasant, fun, and helpful. The family talked about what a great vibe he brought to dinner! We go as a family every time we go to NYC (our third trip) and food is always delicious, with PLENTY to go around. Also appreciated the water pitcher on the table. As a large family (table of 9), it’s so much easier to keep the water glasses full ourselves. Thanks again!!
