Akahoshi Ramen is a humble ramen shop in the city of Chicago. Everything is made in the restaurant, including all soups, seasonings, toppings, and noodles. We are not an authentic ramen shop, though we value the history of ramen, and our ramen is influenced by its past and its future potential. The dish, popularized in Japan after World War 2, is symbolic of both struggle and perseverance. It is both a simple dish, and a fantastically complex one that we treat with reverence and respect. Roughly translating to “Red Star,” the name “Akahoshi” is a love letter to two cities; Sapporo, Hokkaido, where red stars adorn city monuments, and Chicago, Illinois, where the red star decorates the city flag. Our ramen is influenced by Japanese and American ideals in cooking. We hope you will join us to enjoy a bowl of ramen, made with the respect and passion it deserves.

Aba delivered a true 5 star experience. From the friendly wait staff attentively refilling pita bread to the delicious shareables, my 8 friends and I loved our meal. The family-style dining brought us closer as we collaborated ordering, tasted multiple dishes, and shared our favorites. I recommend the elderflower Hugo Spritz tower, which was light and refreshing, and the chicken skewers. We had mixed feelings about the Olive Oil ice cream, and did not like the truffle salmon. All in all, I could see us coming back in the future.

Overall, the best restaurant I’ve been to since moving to Chicago. The appetizers were phenomenal, the main courses felt a little short, but still we’re good . And I did notice that they forgot to give us our onion soup and sparkling water we ordered

Birthday dinner. All of the staff was great, offering complimentary treats along with the meal. Cocktails and the meal was very good. Sauces overpowered some of the dishes, but overall very good.

Here’s a possible review: I had a wonderful dining experience at this cozy Anelya restaurant. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, perfect for a quiet meal. The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors that truly impressed me. The highlight of the evening was the medovyk dessert—it was not only huge but also incredibly rich and tasty. A perfect ending to a delightful meal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great Ukrainian cuisine.

As fans of Rose Mary we were eager to try El Carciofi and willing to take a 4:45 reservation. This is as fun and as delicious as Rose Mary and shares the same approach to dining—shareable small plates. Interesting craft cocktails, sufficient wines by the glass, exceptionally well trained wait staff and very flavorful food. Gus menu was all Rome inspired so it was a little less diverse than Rose Mary. The artichokes were spectacular crisply Rome style. Every inch was edible. Two to an order but they bring you a serrated knife if you want to have them. We had one other appetizer (calamari), one pasta and one seafood main. The portions are great for two to share but if three or four order another something or two and expect to get just a couple bites not full servings. They have $8 servings of gelato and sorbet and a couple amazing deserts they offered to checkout coats.a nice touch in Chicago’s winter. It’s easy to spend $100 per person if you gave two drinks each and desert. We found street parking but forgot to feed the meter since the sign wasn’t obvious so double check
