The Hartwood Restaurant enjoys a rich history. The originally the headquarters of the Harmar Coal Company. Purchased in 1988, the building was transformed into retail space, including antiques and a bookstore. Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Our welcoming and eclectic atmosphere is appropriate for almost any occasion - whether it be meeting a friend for a drink, celebrating an important event, or relaxing after work. Our menu is a mixture of familiar Pittsburgh foods (think pierogies, hamburgers, French fries) and French bistro classics (beef tartare, raclette, mussels), and seasonal classics that come and go throughout the year. 5 adults out celebrating my birthday. The seasonal specialty cocktails were delicious. Everything from literally soup to nuts were delicious. Clam chowder, calamari, variety of salads, entrees of lamb burgers, pork chop, fish sandwiches, ravioli and vegetable fettuccine. Then a candy cane crusted and pecan covered vanilla ice cream ball for dessert. Multiple items shared and enjoyed by all. Waitstaff, hostesses and waiter, friendly and personable. Wonderful dining space/atmosphere. Lovely evening with family.

My daughter & I went to Ritual House for the first time last night. We got seated in a booth near the bar. We ordered a bread board and the edamame, both were good! I ordered the Asian inspired chicken and got the sauce on the side, as recommended by the waiter. The chicken was moist and the breading perfectly done! The sauce was on the sweeter side (almost like syrup), so I am glad it was on the side. Didn’t care for the slaw. My daughter got a grilled chicken Caesar salad, she said it was good! We will definitely be back to try some different food.

We loved our first visit to Golden Gai! From the moment we stepped through the door until the moment we left, the ambiance and hospitality exceeded expectations. Every dish we tried was perfectly presented and equally delicious! We really appreciated interacting with the chefs and watching them create the menu!! We will be back!
