Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. Vallozzi's Pittsburgh has recently joined a mere 1,200 restaurants worldwide as a recipient of the Wine Spectator Magazine's Best of Award of Excellence and is the only Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh to receive such an honor. The menu is quite limited, but possibly that is why what they serve is very good. The beet salad was exceptional, our entrees were quite good and the chocolate ganache was great. Wide selections of beer and wine. Service was great. Only suggestion - which is minor was both my husband and I had entrees with a sauce at the bottom of the chicken and salmon - both sauces were a little cold. Maybe it was plated before the meat and fish were done or maybe cool bowls??

Talia is our favorite spot - hands down! They rotate seasonal menus to keep things fresh, while preserving the fan favorites (like cauliflower dip!!!). The wine list is excellent, featuring a fantastic Italian variety, unique to the city. Though the food always hits - it's the service that we value the most! Melissa and her team make every guest feel like family. Can't wait until our next visit!!
