Rengaya has been serving YAKINIKU in North Sydney since 1993, making it one of Australia’s pioneering Japanese barbeque restaurants. Now, that tradition is set to continue at its new digs on Miller Street – just a short stroll from the original location – in a much more modern, striking setting. The new fit-out features bar-counter seats around an open kitchen, red booth seating divided by Japanese-style timber panelling and a hard-to-miss chandelier. There’s also a 20-seat private dining room. We use only the finest ingredients such as Japanese Black Cattle made in Australia for beef, Sashimi and Seafood fresh from the sea.     Great place to go, especially if you have a play to catch at the Opera House. Conveniently situated by the trains and Light rail. Food was really tasty, staff very attentive, and the restaurant very busy, it is best to book. We will definitely return there.

    Lovely quiet place to have a nice meal with a conversation when you don’t have to strain to hear each-other. The food was excellent (we had zucchini flowers, lamb and duck and mixed greens for side), just the right portions too, nicely presented. The glass of rose was also delicious. All very reasonably priced, in fact considerably cheaper than elsewhere we have been for a pre-shaw dinner. The service was unpretentious yet attentive and prompt. Thank you!

    Great bar with a great atmosphere! Cocktails were really good. Staff very friendly, although service is a bit slow at times. The cheeseboard was great, as well as the sweet potato fries. Not too noisy on a weeknight which was great!
