Best Casual Restaurants in Puerto Vallarta

Cafe des Artistes is a MUST for any foodie/ Michelin enthusiast visiting Puerto Vallarta. The service is attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing, and the food is artistic and creative— both visually and flavor wise. Additionally, the manager, Ephrain, goes above and beyond for all of the patrons. Cafe des Artiste is deserving of even more recognition than it has already received.

Makal is an outstanding restaurant. The ten course tasting menu was memorable - each course was creative and perfectly prepared. (And at US $95, a terrific value.) Some highlights were the watermelon tiradito (marinated and grilled with black garlic purée, ginger mayo and ponzu), the cauliflower taco (grilled with black bean puree and cilantro chimichurri) and chicken with the best mole I've ever eaten. The cocktails were unique and delicious. Our server, Lorena, was knowledgeable, warm and enthusiastic, and the ambience was extremely comfortable. The experience was on a par with the best meals I've had.

I made this reservation for my cousin and his wife that were visiting PV. It is one of our favorite places when we are there, and wanted them to try it. I also purchased a gift card for them to use, and the staff there was great about presenting it to them when they arrived. They had a wonderful time and loved every bit of it! Thank you to the staff for making this work!

Fantastic Evening. The histess was friendly and inviting the minute we showed up. Our server was amazing. He was friendly and attentive. The Margaritas are exceptional. The grilled oysters were perfect as was the calamai. The calamari in particular was the best ever. The chicken dinner was very tasty. There was an exceptional singer. Beautiful vouce and great choice of music. We will return.
