Best Casual Restaurants in Fairhaven

Everything was excellent as usual, and they have the best bread and oils on the planet........

We were a table of four on a busy Saturday night. Despite the full house the waitstaff were on top of their game and very attentive. Shout out to Matt who was our server and went above and beyond to keep us happy. We ordered several apps--highlights were the chicken spring rolls (fresh and light) and the very fresh and well chilled oysters (Eastham). The shrimp dumplings were a bit of a disappointment--heavy and greasy pan fried dough and it was hard to detect the shrimp filling. That was the only mediocre item all night though. The main courses were excellent. Steak tips, Pad Thai and Ramen were our main entrees. Don't laugh at my ramen choice--this is not the stuff you ate in college. A deeply flavorful broth topped with fresh steamed vegetables, a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg, smoked chicken, bean sprouts and cilantro covered a bowlful of perfectly cooked ramen noodles. We still managed to find room to split a dessert--apple crisp and ice cream-excellent. Drinks were generous and well made. We really appreciated the high quality live music. And even with the lively music, we could still have a conversation and hear ourselves talk. We'll be back soon--it's one of our favorite spots.

Lively environment even in dining room if you are seated near bar. Food was great and the service was excellent. Parking is challenging. Our first time here but not our last. Recommend fish and chips, burgers, chowder and onion soups.

Excellence does not necessarily mean fancy, in this case its in execution with simplicity and clarity. The ambiance at New Beige is homey, casual and on a Friday had a lively energy. There is a small retail market incorporated into the space. The food - oh my, it's a tightly focused menu which I love to see. Excellent salad and fried calamari starter. Individuals in my party all ordered different things on the menu and we were all very happy. I can't wait to come back.

I usually eat the seafood here - delicious!- but this trip I decided to try the Smashburger. A winner! I hit aside salad, but numerous types of fries are available. Sweet potato included. The burger was a good size and delicious (cooked as ordered, medium). I had a draft cider. Great luncheon in the sun of the deck. Quieter than inside, as I expected.
