- AAnne-MarieGloucestershire/Wiltshire •1 review4.0Dined 2 days agoWonderful food. We went there for a special occasion and were not disappointed by our first experience of the World Tapas menu. We ordered 5 tapas dishes and 4 sides between 3, and that was heaps of food. Working out at just over £20/head for our savoury course(s). The cheese dumplings were fabulous! A highlight of a Windle family pub. It was a quiet evening, which meant waiting staff were at a loose end so chatting to one another - at one point we could hear their banter, but not get their attention! However they were quick to help once I was able to catch them. Good value High quality food. Thank you for helping us celebrate.More infoThe Royal Wootton BassettPrice: Moderate• British• Swindon•4.6

- JJulietBath/Somerset •1 review5.0Dined on Dec 27, 2024After an hour’s walk on a misty betwixmas morning, myself, husband and trusty black lab Jack, settled into a cosy corner of the bar for lunch (booked in advance given the time of year). Despite the ‘not wanting to eat for a month’ feeling post Christmas turkey, the walk and perusing the varied menu did the trick in building up our appetites! Having seen the list of desserts, we decided to skip the small plates despite how tempting they were. I had the lamb shank, washed down with a warming glass of Merlot. The lamb was everything you’d want from a perfectly cooked shank - meat melting off the bone, coupled with fluffy Parmesan and garlic mash, red cabbage and a delicious sauce. My husband chose the cheddar soufflé which was gooey perfection accompanied by potatoes and greens. The presentation of both dishes was excellent. For dessert, I went for the vanilla and maple cheesecake with salted caramel sauce whilst my husband had the sticky toffee pudding with a specially made for him sticky toffee sauce (the menu had a brandy sauce but my husband doesn’t consume any alcohol) and ice cream. This was also delicious. Again, both desserts were beautifully presented with redcurrant and blackberry garnishes. The staff were attentive to the perfect degree, the bar area was clean, tidy and nicely laid out. The complimentary still or sparkling water was a nice touch. Overall the meal and experience was 5 star. We will definitely be back, maybe even with the teenagers! Would thoroughly recommend!More infoThe Cross House InnPrice: Moderate• British• Bath•4.8
