Portugal: Land of ExplorersIn the 15th Century, Prince Henry the navigator ordered his explorers to bring back to Portugal any exotic fruits, nuts and plants from the new lands. Tomatoes and potatoes are taken to Europe, Brazilian pineapples were introduced to Azores, Brazilian chili peppers grew in Angola, African coffee was transplanted to Brazil.Today the Portuguese fondness for ingredients like cinnamon or curry powder, is also a legacy of his time. The Romans brought wheat and introduced onion, garlic, olives and grapes. Later the Moors were the first to plant rice and introduced figs, planted groves of lemons, oranges and almond trees. Portugal is a seafaring nation with a well-developed fishing industry trading cod since the 15th century.Today, naturally, Portuguese cuisine varies from region to region , but fresh fish and shellfish are found on virtually every menu. Waitress was very sweet and attentive. Food was good but I had a special that had filet tips in it but there was very little meat. . The pork was great and the veal Milanese was very good. I definitely would go back.

For us, this was a special occasion meal and the food and the service were top shelf. We were a little taken back by the sticker shock, but the drinks, steak, salad, lobster, and appetizers were so good, I can’t complain. However, we were very surprised by the dress of the clientele. People were wearing sweats and sneakers in what I consider to be a very expensive and high end restaurant. Our waiter Pierre was an absolute pro. This is not a place for me to frequent often but maybe once or twice a year for a special occasion.

Menu was innovative and delicious! Service top notch. Only objection was that the kimchi with the tuna was way too spicy hot! We've had kimchi before, but this was something to not touch, or you would not be able to taste the tuna. Our waitress, Janice, had warned us ahead of time, but having had kimchi before, there was no concern. But this kimchi was unbearable! Janice was an outstanding waitress, answering questions and very attentive throughout the meal. She stated she would give the chef our feedback, and we trust that she did. All other dishes were fantastic!

Food was delicious, service was Excellent! The Chef even came out to check on us. We went early, 5:30pm so it was a bit quiet but the restaurant is very charming and cozy. Would love to go back on a Saturday night when there is Flamenco and finish my night with an espresso from the beautiful machine they have. I wish them the best!
