Emmer & Rye is a restaurant designed around the farmer’s haul, featuring a menu that changes daily with a focus on seasonal and local cuisine. Heirloom grains are milled fresh for house made pastas, breads, and desserts, whole animal butchery is done on site, and an extensive in house fermentation program captures flavors at their peak and preserves them for the off season.

This was my 3rd experience with Emmer & Rye and I'll definitely be back. The food is spectacular. The service is wonderful. It is very pricey.

We arrived arrived early to our reservation earlier then expected to avoid traffic for SXSW. Once there, we kindly told the hostess about our reservation and time for two. Then were promptly seated, shout out, Grace! Once seated, we were greeted by our sever Trey. Gave us a run down of the menu and some recommendations. We started out with the grilled broccoli, which is if vegetables were a steak and the Jonny cakes witch i couldn't put down. Fallowed by Pappardelle, which was delicious. The last coerce was the smoked half chicken, which was a really good portion size with it being filled with so much flavor and really tender along with the Berkshire pork. All of the food was very well seasoned and basically melted in your mouth with every bite. This was my second time to this location, and I really look forward to coming back again. Great staff, great food, and great service!

Typically love bar seating but for some reason the bartending staff here just doesn’t seem to want you there. The space feels like a hotel restaurant. Some weird combo of farmhouse chic and modern surfaces. The food is okay. Culinary masterpieces aren’t flying out of the kitchen but they’re trying to be adventurous with strange takes on a wide variety of food genres. Stay away from their steak and beef dishes. They struggle with food temperature. Especially on beef. I’ve been wanting to try this place since moving here due to the good reviews. Now I’m convinced they’re bought reviews or that kitchen staff has moved on.

Went to Emmer and Rye for an anniversary. This place has been around for 10 years and unfortunately has not aged well. ATX has far too many restaurants with high ceilings, concrete floors, exposed HVAC, open kitchens and no sound reducing anywhere. We had to talk loudly just be heard across the table and order with the waitstaff. Food was mediocre, needlessly rich/heavy with little acids or salt to balance things out. Pastas were fairly bland and the waiter looked shocked when we asked for fresh pepper. Veggies were drowned in too many finishing sauces. Felt kind of sick when we left. All of the waitstaff were fantastic despite the volume and poor food quality making the overall experience a bust. Will not return. When will the ATX dining scene finally grow up and demand a fine dining restaurant that isn't trying to be a singles bar?

First time but it won’t be the last. We had 4 people and we shared every dish. Each dish was amazing and everyone said it was one of the best meals in Austin. Staff very attentive, and each dish was described in detail which was awesome. Great atmosphere.
