The menu was very limited. Prices too high for our budget. I’m going to tell others not to go there unless they like all the Asian cuisine. 1849 implies that era, not what was on the menu for that era.

Food quality, execution were all very good. Service was super friendly but clearly understaffed and somewhat disorganized. Everything took a long time (but we had drinks, so all good). The show kitchen list fun but if you sit too close too it, the fluorescent lights take away from the atmosphere. Overall, good but will be better if they improve some of their edges.

Just like eating at the original Roy’s restaurants in Hawaii. Definitely a must go to restaurant when visiting Kauai.

Eating House 1849 was just okay. The restaurant was 3/4 empty the night we dined there but yet we were still made to wait 10min for our table (we arrived at the exact time of our reservation) after we’d been “checked in”. The food was just okay as well. Our server was very friendly which helped to make up for the lack of lively atmosphere.

We have always loved Roy’s. Unfortunately this meal did not live up to past experiences. Too much salt in one of the dishes, Roys Chardonnay not good. Sorry

We have been going here for more than 10 years when we vacation on Kauai. My husband loves the barbecue ribs. My favorite is the butter fish. Definitely a keeper!

I’ve always wanted to eat here, and finally this trip we did. So happy about that. Our server was Mikey, I believe and he explained in detail all the dishes we were considering. So friendly and personable. I had a Poipu Breeze to drink and it was delicious. We were served complimentary edamame that were nicely spiced. We started with the ribs as an appetizer and they were out of this world. The gentleman who took our plates away brought hot towels for us to clean our sticky fingers. My hubby ordered the gochuchang chicken bowl and I ordered the Hapa Burger. The chicken was fine, but let’s just say the burger was the best I have ever had. The patty itself had so much flavor and I just want more! It was served with three tempura fried onion rings - so crispy and light, along with fries which I didn’t really eat. Everyone was so attentive without being overbearing. We had no room for dessert. Next time I’m going to eat that first! Go. You won’t regret it. Oh, and make reservations!!
