   My daughter and I had a wonderful time watching the sea lions play in the river and eating a wonderful meal with excellent service from Cora. We will definitely be returning.

   It was not too crowded while we were there so we had a table by the window overlooking the river as requested. The dining room is lovely and quiet despite having people seated around us. It was nice to look out the window at the water flowing by and watch the seals as they jumped up onto the dock on the opposite side of the river. Our waitress, Cora, was friendly, polite and checked in on us frequently but not too much so. Our drinks and appetizer arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The crab cakes were tasty and the dressing on the accompanying side “salad” was very good. We also received a basket of fresh, warm sourdough bread, which was also very good. I ordered the mahi mahi with a miso glaze and wasabi mashed potatoes. The fish was cooked perfectly and the glaze was good. The mashed potatoes had a mild wasabi flavor and were a little on the dry side. It said it came with seasonal vegetables but I only had a couple pieces of bok choy on the plate. My husband ordered the pan seared petrale sole which had a lemon caper butter sauce and was excellent. The mashed potatoes were perfectly cooked. His also said it came with seasonal vegetables but he also received just a couple pieces of bok choy. The lava cake dessert was delicious. The helping sizes are generous and the prices on the moderately high side, but not as much as some of the other restaurants around the area. The rest of their menu looked good and I would definitely eat there again.

   All in all. A very poor dining experience. Drink service, lacked accuracy, no bread was brought to the table. Waited 40 minutes for our server to even approach the table. Our server tried to add a 22% tip on due to large parties. Our party was only five and it clearly states on the bottom of the menu large parties of eight or more Would the tip automatically be added. They were out of two of the most popular items on the menu. Will not return.

   for the prices that this restaurant charges, i expected the food to be better prepared. we ordered the crab cakes, brussels sprouts, pork chop, and chicken. the appetizers were fine but both of the entrees were undercooked. my bf asked for the pork chops to be cooked a bit more but it was still a little pink when they brought it back. the service was ok but this was a disappointing first experience.

   we dined at The Pilot House several times in the past several years and it has always been great but time was much different. My cesar salad was warm and wilted with not much flavor. The timing in which our main course was brought out was too quick - got main course before we were finished with salad and presentation of plate was very generic. Also, our server was too busy running upstairs to the bar so we didn’t see her much. Not sure what’s happened but we will definitely not be returning anytime soon. lastly, Old Sac is not the same and there is a lot more people traffic walking on the boat looking through windows watching people eat.

    Great service! Gave us a free dessert unexpectedly and sat us by the window by the river as requested. Only drawback was small menu with not very many entree choices. Overall, wonderful!
