Bodega SF is an evolution of Matthew Ho’s family's restaurant, Bodega Bistro, which operated from 2003-2017 out of San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, serving traditional Northern Vietnamese cuisine. The brand’s success continued as Ho organized pop-up events, eventually transitioning to meal packages throughout the pandemic to meet demand. In 2022, Ho and his partners opened Bodega SF’s brick-and-mortar location, again located in the Tenderloin District, bringing high-quality Vietnamese cuisine back to the community with a modernized, casual fine dining experience. The family-style concept allows visitors to sample its variety of authentic, creative dishes.

Patrons rave about the "peppercorn crab," describing it as a must-try, and commend the restaurant for its "wonderful fresh crabs prepared many ways." Another standout feature is the garlic noodles, which, when mixed with the sauce from the roasted crab, create an "absolute flavor bomb." This cozy, welcoming spot is celebrated not only for its "delicious and perfectly seasoned" seafood but also for its exemplary service. Visitors continually express intentions to return, summing up their experiences with praises like "the garlic crab and the sauce is to die for." Fantastic food. We enjoyed everything we ate. They were fresh and flavorful. Cocktail was very good as well. We ordered a martini and it had a very nice after taste. Honestly my favorite part though was their desert. It was a pandan mochi cake with a generous size of lychee ice cream. It was a combination I never had before and it was super delicious. I would come back for everything I ate there, especially for that desert!

Lily produces a top tier culinary experience in a romantic/moody setting. Rob, the chef, helped us find some menu favorites for our first time in his restaurant and the staff didn’t skip a beat with great attention to detail in dish timing and bussing. We tried the beef tare tare, Ahi Poke, chow fun & small bowls of the Beef noodle soup. The first two dishes were physically and mentally stimulating with large breakable house made crackers for scooping of the eclectic ingredients that all danced together in unison while still standing out individually for playful bites. The chow fun was an indulgent & richly flavorful dish with many satisfying textures. Finishing with the beef noodle soup was the perfect cap with it’s subtle comforting broth, bouncy noodles & tender brisket. The non-alcoholic beverages are a must try!! Do not leave without trying the Mango Passion Sinh To!!!! My wife and I have found a new favorite in the Richmond District.
