Best Steakhouses in Aliso Viejo / Laguna Niguel

Had a fun date night with my husband. We always enjoy ironwood. The cocktails are delicious (hot okdiehawn is my favorite). And the service is great. My husband enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich and I had a simple butter lettuce salad with blackened salmon. Both dishes were delicious. This time we sat at a high top by the bar. We enjoyed the vibe.

We decided to go here for Valentine's Day based on the many positive reviews. We were not disappointed. The food was phenomenal (we both had the halibut) and service was prompt and friendly. We even received some personal attention from the owner who is very passionate about his business, food and most importantly, his customers. Highly recommend!

Overall this place is always a grand slam. As people who live out of town and frequent the restaurant it is always a good experience. We made reservations to dine for Valentine’s which did not disappoint. My only gripe if you will came down to the daily specials, we asked our waiter what the daily specials were knowing they are usually amazing. When asking for the items, we also inquired about price of course as that ultimately lies on the decision whether to venture off the normal menu if the value is there. The special was a filet and lobster tail.. we asked the price, our waiter said he believed it was $82. Seemed fair considering the ribeye on the menu was $62. Upon receiving our bill, we were shocked to find the special was actually $115. Considering the smaller steak paired with the lobster tale the value just didn’t match the pricing and had our waiter been consistent with the pricing when ordering it would have changed the outcome of my bill. Overall a little disappointed in the value, but definitely not the food itself or the ambience.

Our first dinner experience at Selanne’s was spectacular. Our server Guillermo was friendly, informative, and attentive the entire evening. The food was coursed properly and timely. The food was delicious — both our 12oz NY Strip and 14oz Ribeye were prepared perfectly. We also accompanied these with green beans, carrots, and assorted salts, all great additions. We enjoyed our cocktails as well. Overall, we highly recommend Selanne’s for your next date night or an upscale evening with friends.

Passed by this place hundreds of times but finally tried and can understand why its the favorite local restaurant of good friends of ours. Menu offered a wide variety of interesting choices, food was great, and service was outstanding.
