It is evident why Cocina al Fondo and its chef received the James Beard Best Chef (South) award in 2023. This was a jewel of a restaurant built inside a renovated house with the kitchen in an adjacent shed, an indoor dining room with an accompanying garden for outdoor seating, and a knowledgeable and attentive staff. The food - Puerto Rican soul food taken up a notch with soothing and occasionally surprising flavors, well executed and balanced. Only open Thursdays through Saturdays. Well worth a visit.

We have been in PR for a week, and I am so glad this was our final dinner here at the resort. We had the alcapurrias as a starter, and I usually eat one of three when we have three of something. I took my extra half this time. Then we had the Caribbean Sampler - a great choice! For dessert we had the CUATRO leches cake. Our drinks were fabulous too. The staff were great.

I’ll keep this short and sweet. The food was excellent (pan fried red snapper as main course-order this, it was amazing). Restaurant was nice, hostess polite, etc… all the things you would expect. However, our server,Jose was phenomenal.!A polite gentleman, personable, knowledgeable about the dishes, good recommendations. I can’t share enough accolades about this guy. Caña, take notice and recognize him. He is the sole reason I am sharing this review with your prospective diners.
