Best Mediterranean Restaurants in South Oak Cliff

My wife and I started dining at Avanti over 25 years ago when we were dating. We have celebrated many anniversaries there since, as we did last evening. When I made the reservation on Open Table I stated that it was our anniversary and requested our favorite seating in the northwest corner of the dining area because it’s quiet and provides a nice view of the rest of the restaurant. When we arrived we were greeted by the warm and friendly hostess who wished us a happy anniversary said that our table was ready. Our waiter, Martin, was friendly, informative and attentive. My wife ordered her usual Bolognese. We have traveled to Italy many times and the Tagliatelle Bolognese at Avanti is by far the most authentic we’ve had in the US. I had the Cioppino which was also amazing. They surprised us with Tiramisu served on a platter wishing us a happy anniversary. It was just as romantic as always. Thank you Avanti… we will be back again!!

Nikki is a wonderful update on the space that once was the much-loved City Cafe. Decor is chic and warm at the same time. The lounge area is spacious and inviting — for drinks or a full meal. The dining rooms are equally inviting. Now the best part: the FOOD!! We went with family recipes for this visit — and every bite was lovingly prepared, beautifully presented and delicious! Loved the generous trio of starters. The dolmades. The Greek salad and the moussaka. We will put Nikki on repeat for certain. Enjoy!

Excellent food and atmosphere. This place is a gem in Oak Cliff. Highly recommend! Started with fried cauliflower, delicious and main was the chicken shish. Fantastic! Food is fresh, hot and very well spiced. Get yourself over there now!!

Had a wonderful Christmas Eve meal with the family. Courteous and helpful staff. Drinks and appetizers were out quickly and tasted great. Main courses came out together and were absolute delight. Thank You. We will be back. Ron, Ariel and Laurie

My husband is hard to please and for him to say this was impressive- that alone is a win! Place was so cozy and beautiful and food was so great and fresh - we are coming back soon!
