Best Italian Restaurants in Nokomis

Cafe Gabbiano is our go-to restaurant on Siesta Key. Tucked away in the corner of a shopping area, we’re always greeted by friendly staff who always seat us at our before our reserved time. Our waitstaff has always been friendly, attentive and a pleasure to speak with. They have a large selection of wine, and the bartenders serve excellent mixed drinks. The selections of appetizers, to salads, entrees, to deserts provides an experience for even picking eaters (like our kids). We’ve tried many of their selections and while we have our favorites, we’ve never experienced a bad meal. My favorite, bruschetta for an appetizer, truffle ravioli for the main course and a chocolate martini for the closer.

We were seated right on time at our reservation. We were greeted warmly by our server Joanie and she gave us time to look at the menu after telling us about the specials for the evening. The ambience was very nice people dressed up a bit more due to the Christmas holidays. The noise level was low to medium, which allowed for a good conversation. I had the special for the night for the Casio de Pepe and a good glass of quilted Cabernet. I’ve been there before and they’re happy hours are awesome as well. We’ll be back !!!

Based on reviews and having to book more than a week in advance, we accepted an early reservation and are so glad we did. I consider La Violetta to be in the top three restaurants in Sarasota after dining there just this one time. Exceptional dishes for us were the ravioli osso buco and the sardine appetizer. Our server Frederico was exceptional. We'll be back.

food and service was exceptional. our server, Madison, was knowledgeable, professional and attentive. food was awesome.lamb chops were done perfectly to my order. veal chop very tasty. plenty of food. rolls served with dinner were fresh and crispy.. sea food appetizer was excellent. our choice of wine was perfect. had no room for dessert (although i heard their mousse was to die for)..can't wait to go back again.
