- SSusanneLondon •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoThe food was outstanding. Flammkuchen very crispy, Rinderroulade and Schweinshaxe both very tender, lots of flavour. Kaesspaetzle really authentic. The cake menu was impressive, lots of choice: Apfelstrudel, Sachertorte, Donauwelle, Kaesekuchen, Walnuss-Quitten Baiser Torte , all excellent. My only criticism would be with the Mohnkuchen, which had the wrong base. The filling was very nice but it was on a soft base rather than the traditional crust . Also no Streusel on top. Service was excellent too, very attentive and patient. Again just one slight criticism that one waiter was struggling to understand the names of the dishes (which are printed in German on the menu) when taking the order. Maybe a quick crash course of German pronunciation for all waiters wouldn’t go a miss, similar to the wine menu, which does explain how to pronounce Weinkarte.More infoGerman GymnasiumPrice: Expensive• German• King's Cross•4.2
- MMarkLondon •1 review5.0Dined 6 days agoVery enjoyable and high quality pre theatre 3 course set meal. Bit of a shame we had to specifically ask for the menu we'd booked, and the £2pp cover charge should really be in the price. But food was extremely nice and service exemplary.More infoThe DelaunayPrice: Expensive• European• Covent Garden•4.6

- LlouiseKent •157 reviews4.0Dined on Oct 9, 2024First time here, primarily drawn by the look and the location! Live music on arrival was a touch on the loud side if one sat at the back, so we swapped to front and were able to hear each other a little more. I'm sure perhaps with a different singer or just piano it might have been better (after all, live piano music usually adds to one's experience of a cocktail bar! ) Sumptuous decor contributed to ambience, which did get better anyway once the music switched to recorded. Serving staff as stylish as the decor, again contributed well to the overall feel. We did the "Taste of Engel" for something to eat. Descriptions of hot dogs sounded very tasty; on arrival my bun was fully cut in half (as opposed to split) making it tricky to eat in the usual way, and was quite dry, but the pork sausage and dressings were nice enough. Superb cocktail menu and those we had were professionally executed. Overall I would say this is a beautiful place where one would absolutely go for drinks, and if one wanted a bit of carb/protein to offset them then it's provided, but is not - and nor should it be, given the type of venue it is - the main focus of this Royal Exchange gem.More infoEngel BarPrice: Expensive• Cocktail Bar• Bank•4.3
- CCraigLondon •15 reviews4.0Dined on Oct 4, 2024Great food and lively ambience - would definitely come back with my mates. Not anything like as ‘German’ as I thought which was a bit disappointing as we were looking forward to some lederhosen!More infoAlbert's Schloss - LondonPrice: Moderate• Contemporary European• Soho•4.8
