*Please note: Outside Seating is on a first come, first served basis. You may request Outside Seating with your reservation and we will do our best to accomodate it, however, we cannot guarantee it.*Named after the Milford, Connecticut beach where it first opened during Prohibition, in its halcyon days The Anchor became a favorite watering hole for actors, artists, poets, writers, and Yalies, and the after-work boîte for bartenders and staff from other bars. Relaunching in 2016, The Anchor effortlessly aligned with a revitalized Downtown New Haven, in the vibrant midst of Yale University. The bar and eatery simultaneously honors, embraces, and reflects the City’s economic, social and intellectual diversity—representing a cultural cocktail of town and gown immediacy of a deadline. The Anchor’s new owner, Yale alumnus Karl Franz Williams’ plan is to preserve the best and most recognizable aspects of the restaurant’s former incarnation and create something evocative and timeless.

Driven by this place for years and thought it was a farm stand/garden center. Finally tried it. Will be back soon! Great brunch and lunch entrees. Haven't tried dinner yet but loved what I experienced. Try the Terrain breakfast and the Dill Bloody Mary is truly unique..

I would say 3.5 star. Between good and very good. It was good, food was good and service was certainly good. Its a cute restaurant, the name suits it. Chairs are simple wood and rather uncomfortable. Ambiance is nice but wouldn't see this as an upscale dining experience. Its rustic, hence the name. The menu is small and interesting, portions pretty small and not a spectacular presentation. As mentioned, i thought the food was good but not spectacular and not sure the price is justified but i guess it's westport. Wine is definitely overpriced. I'll probably be back but not a go-to.

We had a table for five plus a baby for lunch. Interesting and flavorful menu. Pulled duck tostados were excellent. One friend said the chicken sandwich was the best meal she had over the Christmas/Hanukah holiday. Kitchen made an easy substitution for a food allergy. Only slight gripe was that it was chilly sitting at the front table in the window. Will definitely be back!

We absolutely loved your afternoon tea. The sandwiches were delicious! My favorite was the beet and goat cheese. I am not a truffle lover, but I did enjoy the egg salad sandwich with a hint of truffles. It was not overdone, it was just right. I loved the scones, especially with the fig jam and clotted cream. I prefer savory over sweets at an afternoon tea. I find many places do far too many sweets. You had just enough to complement the sandwiches. If I may, I would like to suggest the addition of Darjeeling to your teas. They do call it the King of Teas, after all. It is very different from English Breakfast and Earl Grey, both of which are blended teas. I feel Darjeeling would really complement your lovely afternoon tea. Thank you for a lovely afternoon, Sincerely, Lorraine Pagano
