Welcome to Copperwood Tavern, located in Shirlington Village. Our menu offers an array of scratch-made dishes and seasonal flavors along with a selection of handcrafted cocktails, 20 Virginia craft beers on tap, and an extensive selection of bourbons and Virginia wines. Copperwood exudes a cozy cabin-style vibe; great for a date night, business lunch, or weekend brunch with the family.
Join us weekdays for lunch, happy hour $2 oysters from 3-6, or dinner!
On weekends we offer brunch from 9am-4pm featuring classics such as chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and bananas foster French toast along with a selection of brunch libations.

    We went for brunch. Lots of choices from breakfast-ish to lunch-ish. My husband ordered venison chili as an appetizer, which he enjoyed, and a traditional benedict which he also enjoyed but parts of it were oddly cold (he wasn't sure if it was the egg or the hollandaise). I got the bagel and lox with a side of grits - Grits were fabulous, light and fluffy, a bit of cheese flavor to make them interesting. The bagel was okay, but I found that having pickled onion on top instead of raw softened the onion's sharpness but added a different sharp note. Plus, I missed the crunch of the raw onions and the pickled onions had a bit too much liquid that dripped off. This of course is only my opinion. I'm eager to return to try other items, at other times of day. I definitely recommend trying Copperwood Tavern!

    We were at Copperwood for Sunday Brunch in celebration of my daughter's birthday. We were a party of 9 who arrived at 10:30 AM and stayed until 1:15 -- a long time. Nonetheless, they treated us like royalty the whole time. It was a great event for our friends and family. Thank you Copperwood. Well done.

    An unfortunate disappointment. The food looked good---but it was totally tasteless. What else is there to say? The fried green tomatoes were both overcooked and tough (and tasteless). The fried chicken was tender, but tasteless. And so on. Won't return.

    Great ambiance! Staff was very friendly. Food was really good (pork chop and steak salad). Very nice selection of bourbon and beer. I enjoy coming back to this place each time.

    Overall good experience. Asked for a window table when I booked, but ok, not available. I understand. But then, hostess, don’t try to seat me in the worst table next to the entrance. We were moved after my husband arrived and complained, but I didn’t like assumption that it was good enough for me before he got there. Very nice, extensive breakfast menu, and food pretty good except for tough turkey breakfast sausage. Oh for a decent pork sausage in America! Our waiter was considerate and efficient.

    I go back about every 2-3 years to see if things changed. No. Arrogance Is their primary approach to customer service. I’ve been to Michelin 3 & 4 restaurants with better & humbler customer service.
