Located on the affluent Great Neck corridor in Virginia Beach, just three miles from the Oceanfront, Coastal Grill is as famous for what isn't on the menu as for what actually is. Owner Jerry Bryan with Executive Chef Maureen Cucchiaro and Chef de Cusine Brad Bates at the stove, offer an extensive list of "blackboard specials," always with a nice assortment of freshly caught regional seafood. Dinner for our anniversary. Greeted by hostesses who wished us a happy anniversary. Server was exceptional. Food delicious. Calamari, salads - scallops and salmon for entrees. All the food beautifully plated and delicious. Complementary mini champagne toasts! Thank you!!

our dinner was just what we needed and wanted, a quiet weeknight of comforting food with our fav acorn squash. A special treat for my husband was the Hatteras chowder, just like he likes it, full of clams and flavorful! Thank you Alex, a star server & Janell for a relaxing & totally enjoyable weeknight break. Coastal is our go to dining for casual fantastic food, atmosphere, & service for ourselves, when family comes to town or celebrating with friends. It's hard not to always order our favorites of Wilted Bibb salad & "fried scallops". Several visits ago Alex explained Coastal's scallop prep, they are not what you think of as fried, I tried them & were hooked, won't eat scallops anywhere else! They are so sweet and tender - not breaded fried..

The blackened rockfish special with the cucumber onion vinaigrette just enhanced the dish to a whole new level for me. My wife ordered fried oysters friend lightly in order to retain their juiciness was prepared exactly as requested. The acorn squash is always superb. Well done!

We were there to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Though I noted on the reservation that it was a special occasion, neither the hostess nor the waitress made mention of it. Our waitress was pleasant enough, though frankly she was not very attentive. She never returned to see if everything was satisfactory or if we needed anything. I think the most disappointing part was she did not even offer us a dessert menu. This was especially disappointing since it was a birthday celebration. Not the level of attention I expected from a fine dining establishment.

An outstanding dining experience! Our group has dined at Coastal Grill many times & it is one of our favorites! We’ve never had poor service or a subpar meal. Very consistent quality is difficult but the staff & chefs pull this off every night! We are again planning our return to Coastal Grill - the fried oysters, salmon, & strip steak were out of this world!😋
