   We booked New Year's Eve dinners here a few times before Covid because of the nice view and atmosphere, less about the food. For food, we've been going to Sandbar. My friend who lives in White Rock was celebrating this week and she picked this place. I was pleasantly surprised to find food quality has improved since the last time I was here, good flavours and fresh. Our waitress Helen was excellent and all her recommendations were bang on. I had the seafood salad and my friend ordered the Fully Rigged (prix fixe). Both were very good and good value, good portions for the price. Overall, an excellent place to go for a nice meal. I want to return with my husband for Valenitnes, to use my VIP credits and try their key lime pie mmmm.

   For some reason we were given the dinner menu rather than the lunch menu. Had I checked their menu online beforehand, I would have asked for the lunch menu. This was a special occasion as we normally don't go to The Boathouse because of parking at the beach.

   The restaurant itself is a bit dated but expected. Had a reservation and was asked to wait a short period for a window seat, nice touch. Service was what saved the date night… I had a steak and lobster which was very tough right away and the server took it away to be replaced, so my partner had a salad that was lacking in some the ingredients and I had what could only be described as a large tiger prawn, the steak came at the end and it was a nicely done medium. To compensate we were given a dessert to share, I did mention on the booking that it was a date night… nice touch if this is a gratis from the restaurant. The prices in comparison to portion size is rather poor from what I have seen elsewhere.

   Great service from the waitress who served us. She was very attentive to our needs. Always had a smile and always asking if we need anything else. Great food too.

   White Rock was very busy, but the Boathouse was very quiet. There were 3 or 4 other tables of patrons beside us with 1 waiter and 1 waitress on the floor. Service was extremely slow. Our waitress would keep disappearing, so we had to wait for a menu, wait a long time for our dinner and we waited 20 minutes for a dessert menu. Once we ordered, we didn't get our coffee, but our dessert finally came. I had to ask for our coffee again. He said she had to brew the coffee. Then we waited awhile to pay our bill. It was over 2 hours. We noticed the restaurant just down the street were packed, but the downstairs restaurant was completely empty.

   4 tables on a Sunday afternoon and service was slowwwwww! Food way overpriced for what you get. Flavour just ok. Soup served after the mains were dropped at table. Had to flag down the waitress to get a second cup of coffee. Overall would not go back.

   It was a nice Thanksgiving experience although it was disappointing to find very few main courses on the menu for under $40.

    I come to The Boathouse quite a bit and often bring friends. Today was absolutely fantastic service from our server, Nava. She went above and beyond to help out with my friends allergy to garlic. Thank you for the wonderful experience, and as always, the great view!
