   Can you do zero stars? I used to love Benihana so much and special celebrations were so fun to have at this spot. After last night, we won’t be back. Had a 6pm reservation, the whole party of 10 had arrived by 6:03pm - then we waited until 6:47 to be sat. The host said it wasn’t “their fault” as their corporate office had overbooked them and they had apparently been sat with 150 guests all at one time. Then when we finally got to a table, our waiter was not great. He tried to bring a round of drinks and got things all mixed up and took another 25 minutes. Then the waiter told us that he was trying to get our order together and find a chef for our table, but it was gonna take a little bit. When we asked how long a little bit was and asked if we could get our soup and salad at least he said I don’t know and sent his general manager to the table. The general manager proceeded to tell us how the terrible service and the reservations, and all of it was not their fault. Things have been different since they sold to the company and had been running terribly ever since. Also, the manager had been on duty for 13 hours he shared but he had “ significantly” discounted our bill. I told him “I can imagine it’s a challenging night as I was in the restaurant industry for many years, but I’ve never had such a messed up dining experience when trying to celebrate the holidays with family” and thanked him for offering the discount but we just wanted our food. When they finally got us a chef to our table, he couldn’t seem to keep the order straight, was just as frazzled as the waiter, and served us the wrong dishes. At that point, we were so hungry at that point we just ate what was in front of us. Oh, and that significant discount was 20%. If you don’t have 3 1/2 hours to eat dinner, I would stay away from this place - zero stars do not recommend.

   Our reservation was at 8pm we got there before. We didn’t get seated until 9. Once sat we they didn’t actually start until 930. Didn’t end up eating until 10. I think it’s a poor consideration of our time. Of our reservation and on top of that no empathy for their lack of servicing us

   We were seated immediately and ended up with a table to ourselves which was nice. It wasn't too crowded due to the time we picked for our visit. The server came over immediately and took our drink order and she was great. She took our food order and before we'd finished the salad our chef arrived and went over our food selection and then he put on quite a show which kept us entertained during the entire meal. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed our visit very much.

   We visited Benihana for our aunt’s 60th birthday. It was a great choice as the food and drinks were very good, and our waiter and teppan chef were fantastic! Tony, the chef, really put on the show and did a great job. Would definitely return.

    It’s hard to overcome finally being sat 55 minutes after our reservation, especially with teenagers that were hard to lock down in the first place. Full experience took 3 hours because each stage took so long. This was Sunday before Veterans Day, so not sure if it was mismanaged scheduling, or if they simply don’t have the staff. Hostess told me they were running a little behind and that it would take “15 minutes or so.” I checked 4 more times and each time it sounded like we were almost there. The food was good, but given the price and length of time everything took, I’m not sure I’ll be back again any time soon. Very disappointing because I specifically chose Benihana over Ah-So, which is much closer to our house.
