Great experience! Service was outstanding. Food was good. The Elk was really good but could’ve used a bit more sauce. The options were great! We will be back.

Excellent food, sharp presentations, and superb service, if a bit pricey. My duck was perfectly cooked, but only had two small slivers of duck breast with figs and sauce. Delicious, but a bit niggardly, portion-wise. Even a bit of a vegetable alongside would help. My wife had perfectly cooked elk, and the beef tartare, as a shared small plate, was terrific. My toffee and mascarpone dessert was delicious. Bambara offers interesting and unusual cocktails and a decent, if short, wine-by-the-glass menu. The full wine list looked good, but I didn't see any 1/2 bottles (splits) that were offered, which work well for 2 diners. I must take a minute to rave about our waiter, who patiently answered all the menu questions that my wife--who can't eat dairy or gluten--asked. He must have talked to the chefs several times, but he made sure that her entree was dairy and gluten free. Overall, I'd recommend Barbara; it has a pleasant ambiance that's right in the downtown heart of Salt Lake City.

We have come here in the past to celebrate my daughter who goes to the U. It’s not what it used to be. The main dining room was really loud, so we asked to be seated in the back. I ordered a vegan dish and they prepared “cabbage noodles”which tasted like the outside of stuffed cabbage and was hardly worth the $38 they charged us for cabbage + carrots without any umami. My order of elk came out sliced, with one side raw and the other seared. They re-made the dish (wasting local elk), after which it was quite good. Overall, disappointing.

Our waiter and receptionist were especially excellent. They made sure our food came in a timely manner as we were on our way to the theater. The food and cocktails were excellent and a good time was had by all. Thanks Bambara!

I ordered the Halibut. It arrived less than warm. I was very hungry and we had to make the ballet, so I didn't think we had the time to have dinner remade or heated. The roe on the smoked trout was overpowering.

We ordered the poached hallibut. The fish haf been cooked nicely, but was served on a cold plate that sucked the heat out of the fish before it got to our table. Server set it down and walked away, leaning against the wall looking at the other servers. I had to get out of my chair to get his attention. I told him it was too cold. He said "It's poached, that is why it's not hot," I repeated that the plate was so cold it ruined a $45 dish. I said, please use a hot plate. They replaced the diah and used a hot plate and it was excellect. The server was, however, enthralled looking at the other servers instead of watching his customers. It took effort everytime to get his attention, including getting the check. At breakfast they brought my eggs cold on a very cold plate. Server chacked with the kitchen and they said they had no warm plates, sorry. BS. Arrogant? An expensive restaurant for this level of care. A SHAME being in the Monoco hotel. Our second poor service in a row at Bambera.

One of the best pre-dinner salads I’ve had! Love the fresh made pasta.
