A very disappointing experience. We’ve enjoyed afternoon tea at the Brown Palace many times, especially during the holidays. This time, we came to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday with her friends, but the service was severely lacking. We were barely checked on, except when the hostess informed us—just 30 minutes in—that our table was needed for another reservation within the hour. I understand the need for table turnover, but we waited excessively, received only one extra plate of sandwiches, and were never asked how things were until the bill arrived. Despite noting the birthday in our reservation and mentioning it to the hostess, I had to request a cupcake and candle after seeing other tables receive them. It was disappointing that a place we chose for its special atmosphere failed to make my daughter’s celebration feel even remotely special. For such a high-priced experience, the automatic 20% gratuity for our party of eight felt completely unwarranted. Suffice it to say we will not be back.

Thank you for your feedback, Kate. I sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet expectations, especially for such a special occasion as your daughter’s 16th birthday. We truly value your patronage. I want to assure you that our team did check on your table multiple times throughout your visit, as we always aim to ensure our guests have everything they need. Regarding sandwiches, the standard offering includes one extra plate- which is mentioned alongside your guided tea tier explanation. We do our best to acknowledge special celebrations, and I apologize that this was not handled in a way that met your expectations via our hosts. I will be sharing it with our team to improve our guest experience moving forward- as everyone deserves to feel special on their celebratory day.

Our server Forrest was a great help in picking out our teas and champagne. The server was a joy to talk with during our dining experience. We also sat close to the pianist who played beautiful music during our two hour stay.

High Tea at The Brown is a 25 yr long family tradition for us. We love the luxurious lobby with live piano music. Tea itself is fantastic with each diner getting a pot of their choosing. And the food is exquisite! Delicious, beautiful & plentiful. We look forward to special occasions where we can be served by our favorite hostess, Hiwat, who brings her sparkling personality and charming smile to the table. She is always a joy to see and makes our time at the Brown Palace so very special. Thank you for making our celebrations all the more joyful!

During our trip to Denver I booked a reservation for afternoon tea in the lobby of the historical Brown Palace. Immediately the staff was welcoming and attentive, even providing warm blankets to use. Hiwat was very informative and friendly with her service and many years of experience. It was a great tasty and relaxing experience to spend our last day.

Love tea time here so much and the piano player John Kite is an absolute gem. Make sure to put an extra $5 in his tip jar to hear all your favorite piano songs. Thank you so much!!!
