1808 American Bistro serves classic American fare with the occasional Southern, Cajun, and international twists. Steaks grilled to order. Shrimp and Grits with a bit of a bite. A delectable array of house made sauces, vinaigrettes, remoulades, tapenades, aioli, and demi-glaces. Not to mention the pastas, burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, entrees and desserts, all of the mouthwatering variety.

Our full bar offers 24 cold craft beers on draft, and a delightfully tippling assortment of wines and spirits. Stop by for dinner for a beer, or any combination thereof that tickles your fancy.

Reservations recommended for the Dining Room. However, we cannot accommodate reservations for the Patio and Bar.

Restaurant is lovely. Great atmosphere. Service is excellent. Steaks were overcooked and mashed potatoes were terrible. Lettuce in salad was brown. Water was warm. Deserts were amazing.

We always look forward to going to this restaurant ! The food is flavorful, memorable and leaves you with that " I can't wait to go back" type of feeling. If you are are bourbon drinker they have a cocktail called the brown butter old fashioned that is amazing! The service is top notch and atmosphere is very pleasant.

We have been going to 1808 for years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere. Things have changed. Although service is still excellent, get ready for sticker shock. The food is good, but not good enough to justify the exorbitant dinner menu prices. Be prepared for an $80 - $100 bill for two for dinner, excluding any wine or drink other than water. They charge separately for sides, bread, and even sauces. These are big city prices in small town Delaware. Easy to see why there's no problem getting a reservation anymore.

Food was very moderate. Mussels were cold and gummy no juice 👎 Cesar salad was good scallops were just ok and the appetizer potato balls were flavorless Ambience is good and service was good but food just o.k.

I know I’ll be in the minority but staff was very rude from the second we walked in including the hostess, bartender & server. Left after appetizers bc we were so taken back, will not return. Food was good though so it’s unfortunate.

We could not have been more pleased with our experience. Our waiter,Tony, was fantastic! He was attentive and took time to explain any questions we had about the menu and the specials. Steak was perfection! We will definitely be going again!
